(2023 revision):
Guitarist Anders Osborne started a long way from home. The Swedish musician grew up listening to American blues music and, when he was only 18 years-old, Osborne planted his roots in New Orleans. In those early years, the guitarist busked around Jackson Square - where he first saw Trombone Shorty as an actual shorty - and also met drummer Stanton Moore before establishing himself as a songwriter with a weekly residency on Frenchmen Street. Osborne also attempted to further his career in Los Angeles and Nashville but ultimately found more success at home in New Orleans and touring the festival circuit with bands like Moore’s own Galactic in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Similarly, Osborn’s contribution to Trombone Shorty’s 2013 album Say That To Say This, “Get The Picture,” provided the jazz-instrumentalist-turned-r&b-superstar with an adopted home among roots and jam rock audiences.
